A Los Angeles Attorney Recognized for Employment Law Cases
In the past few years, Michael received considerable recognition for his legal achievements. In 2012, he received a Commendation for outstanding accomplishment from the mayor of the city of Lancaster. Then, in 2013, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) selected Michael as one of five finalists for its Rising Star award. That very same year, Super Lawyers magazine selected him as a Rising Star. Each year, no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. Michael was subsequently named to the Super Lawyers list in 2014. Some of the representative cases Michael handled include:
- Michael and his partner Doug Silverstein recently were trial counsel in Shaffer v. Morton Grinding, which resulted in a $700,000 jury verdict for the plaintiff and a finding of punitive damages against the defendant.
- In a class action suit alleging the misclassification of employees as independent contractors, Michael was the primary brief writer in obtaining terminating sanctions against defendants for improperly contacting class members and abusing the discovery process.
